Early 19th century Prince of Wales link chain, 18k

SGD 3,650.00

Highly coveted and rare, heavy Georgian link chain in 18 karat gold. This chain has a unique Prince of Wales link design with some being chased, and its ends are with a dog clip and a large bolt ring. It has two regular links somewhere in the middle, which may have been a repair in the past, but I actually love the unusual design it resulted in and it allows for creative styling, for example to hook a charm.

Prince of Wales chains are looser than the rope chain, but since each oval link is connected to other 4 links, it is sturdier than a normal cable link chain.

Chasing and Repoussé are old techniques using a hammer to create raised designs on metal including gold. The word comes from the French words, “ “chasser” (to chase, as the jeweller chases a design on the metal) and “repoussé” (to push up, in this case the metal from behind).

Metal: 18K yellow gold
Approximate Measurements:
Length: 14.25 inches
Gross Weight: 22.7 g
Condition: Very good, pre-owned condition
